Materials and techniques of artists
Since its establishment Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation has undertaken materials and techniques studies of the cultural collections of the University of Melbourne. Works in the University of Melbourne Art Collection have formed the basis for this research. Data is available on a number of a number of artists including Rupert Bunny, Arthur Streeton, E Philips Fox, Hugh Ramsay, Max Meldrum, Eugene von Guerard, J A Turner, amongst others.
Extensive work has been undertaken on Arthur Streeton, in particular as part of Lucy Harper's PhD research on Arthur Streeton's choices relating to panels and supports.
