Future researchers: how to apply

Applications to study at the University Of Melbourne are handled centrally at Faculty level in the first instance. More information on applying can be found on the Future Students Applications web page.

Mid year entry is available, however this is generally only offered on a part-time basis, as there are first semester prerequisites. Part-time study is not available for international students. International students are strongly advised to enrol in semester 1, however those wishing to enrol in the mid year intake should discuss the options with the course coordinator.  In particular they are advised to ensure they have sufficient chemistry knowledge to complete an analytical chemistry subject.

The following subjects are recommended to students commencing study in semester two (mid year): CUMC40002 RESPECT and CUMC40004 Preventive Conservation. Neither of these subjects require chemistry knowledge and are therefore available to students intending to study chemistry during semester two or via the February bridging course.

A research proposal is not required with your application. At this stage we are not asking for evidence of manual dexterity or colour vision acuity. As described above, you are asked to briefly discuss how you believe you meet these attributes in the cover letter.
